Mornings & Midday News Anchor

Mitch co-anchors mornings and midday newscasts, and writes and produces the weekly 7Everyday Hero series that highlights outstanding volunteers in our community. The program was started in January 1999 and has featured a new hero story every week since. Mitch has been awarded two Regional Emmy awards and a Colorado Broadcasting award for his work on the 7Everyday Hero program.

After attending Niwot High School, Mitch went on to graduate from Colorado State University in 1982. He then spent 13-years as an anchor/reporter in Oklahoma City before joining the Denver7 team in July 1995 as a weekend news anchor.

In his more than 30-years as a broadcast journalist, Mitch has covered many high profile stories, such as the Federal Building Bombing, the Aurora Theater Shooting, the Columbine Tragedy and Hurricane Andrew in Florida and Louisiana. As of mid-2018, he has been honored with 13 Emmy awards and has been recognized by his peers for his outstanding anchoring, live reporting, breaking news reporting and for his work on the long running 7Everyday Hero series.

In his free time, Mitch enjoys cycling, skiing and camping and is a health food nut. He is married to his college sweetheart and is the proud father of two grown children. Mitch claims he has the best gig there is: “I have the best job in town … I’m paid to learn.”
